Introduction:
Have Alexa join you, your children or your prayer group while praying the Catholic Holy Rosary. This is a great accompaniment for those who pray the Rosary on a daily basis.
Various religious orders pray the Rosary in different ways. Variations include the number of decades, the sequence, the prayers included, and the wording of the prayers themselves.
This version follows a Catholic five-decade Rosary pattern consisting of four prayers. This version does not include announcing the mysteries, reciting the Glory Be prayer or other prayers commonly included by various religious orders. Future versions of the Rosary may be developed if requested.
The exact sequence and wording is listed below for your review:
This version’s Rosary sequence:
Invocation: The Sign of the Cross.
Crucifix: The Apostles’ Creed.
First Large Bead: The Lord’s Prayer (Our Father)
Next Three Small Beads: The Hail Mary.
A decade consists of one Our Father followed by ten Hail Marys.
Large Bead on the Chain: The Lord’s Prayer.
Next Ten Small Beads: The Hail Mary.
Repeat the two previous steps four more times for a total of five decades.
Upon return to the First Large Bead on the Chain: The Lord’s Prayer.
Next Three Small Beads: The Hail Mary.
Last Large Bead: The Lord’s Prayer.
Crucifix: The Sign of the Cross Invocation.
The Prayers:
The Sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, The Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Voice and Pace Preference Options:
When using the skill for the first time, you will be prompted to choose from among four voice options and three options for rate of speech. Once these preferences are set, they will be in place the next time you use the skill. You can also change your preferences at any time by saying “Alexa, set preferences.”
Duration: Approximately 21-24 minutes depending on your selected rate of speech.
